This project was part of the massive “Students FIRST” deficiencies corrections program initiated by the Arizona School Facilities Board, to bring all public K-12 facilities in the state up to a minimum standard. This particular project consists of a new elementary school facility for this small rural community in southeastern Arizona. The single building contains all spaces necessary to a modern elementary school, including an administration area, classrooms with computer stations, a unique education facility, a cafeteria/multipurpose space with complete kitchen and servery, and a media/learning resource center with a digital independent study space. The facility was master-planned such that it could quickly expand on the “ends” if and when the need arises.
